What is Organic Coffee?

Posted on

Unlike conventional coffee, organic coffee has no synthetic fertilizers or chemicals that are used in growing or producing the beans. The beans are grown using only organic fertilizers such as coffee pulp, chicken manure, or compost. Organic coffee farms are also better for the environment because they emit less carbon than conventional coffee farms. Organic coffee is also healthier for an individual than conventional coffee because it is richer in healthful antioxidants.

Organic coffee beans are grown the way coffee beans were meant to be grown: in the shade of lush forests. Growing coffee this way means less forests are being knocked down and animals can keep their homes and the soil sustains its fertility. Fertile soil means better coffee crops and better coffee crops means better coffee for the coffee drinkers. The farms that organic coffee is raised in are able to handle unusual weather patterns from climate change. It is a safer investment this way for farmers and any of the generations that follow. By purchasing organic coffee wherever one can find it, you are also helping the environment and these farmers.

If you would like to help the environment, we at Green Dragon Roasters, sell organic coffee so not only can one feel better about themselves by drinking healthier coffee, one can also feel better because they purchased coffee that helps the environment.
